People often tell me, “meditation is hard, I can’t quiet my mind!” There is a misconception that your mind will be completely still. That is not going to happen. The conscious mind can become quieter, but will still interject random thoughts into to the silence. That’s just how we are wired.
My advice? Start slow, sit in silent contemplation for 3-5 minutes. I’ll bet you do this more often than you realize. Staring out a window, lifting weights, rocking an infant to sleep or a walk in nature.
These are all examples of quieting the mind. Add soothing music, chanting, mantras or guided meditations gradually, increasing your quiet time each day.
Meditation is a proven technique to freedom and abundance. In the quiet of your mind, you de-stress, heal, and create. Calming the mind opens you to new dimensions, dimensions where ideas flow and answers come.
Do you pray? Prayer is a form of meditation, often to receive your answers you must silence the mind.
Feeling emotional today? Meditate. Meditation can ease depression, anxiety. Check out this article for more information.
Meditate is an way that is comfortable to you. If you wish to recline in a chair, do so. Sit on a pillow, lie in bed, walk in nature. Whatever works for you is the right way, but please do try meditation, you will be amazed at the results a daily meditation practice brings.
